Mathieu Vaessen graduated in law from the Université catholique de Louvain-la-Neuve (U.C.L.) in 2000 and also holds a postgraduate degree in International Relations and Conflict Management (Aanvullende opleiding in Internationale Betrekkingen en conflictbeheersing) awarded by the Katholieke Universiteit van Leuven (K.U.L.) in 2001.

He was called to the Brussels Bar in 2001.

His professional practice has largely been in the areas of Civil liability law, and he is an expert in all areas of real estate.

In 2009, he founded the DBGV firm with André De Becker and Inge Gabriëls.

Mathieu is a certified mediator in civil, commercial and family matters.

Having years of experience representing clients in court, Mathieu has acquired numerous skills in the areas of alternative dispute resolution, particularly mediation, arbitration and negotiation which he practices regularly.
